Another f-ing problem with my Solara

Postby Fatal-NJ » Mon Sep 13, 2004 4:41 pm

I went to open the passenger door yesterday and noticed that my door was stuck, so using some force I pulled it open. I cringed when my door made a horrible creaking and scrapping sound, and the reason why is because my side window is somehow off track. I can't close my door with the window up anymore since the window overlaps the top...so to remedt this problem I have to roll my window down a crack, close my door, and roll up the window so it's about a half centimeter closed. This sucks. It's probaly going to cost a pretty penny to repair since I don't believe it's covered under any warranty. Has anyone experienced this problem? I'm not sure how it could have happened.

Sounds like it probably is covered under the warranty. I'd check with Toyota and fight for them to fix it. There was another posting that sounded like the same problem today. Check it out.

this happens all the time with cars with no top to the door... like most 2 doors. it happens by pushing the door by the window and not by the actual door. if u do it enuf u'll mess up your window's tracking. my mother is a klutz and she did it 2x with her old vet. so when you have anyone touching your glass i suggest u snap at them and give em a mouth full cuz it's a pretty penny if you got to pull it out your own pocket

is it the passenger door???

omg i thought i was the only one having passenger door problem

apparently, my passenger door (which is rarely use/open/closed) is now having couple of loud "CRACK" sound everytime i open/close it. and i realize the door is kinda shifting off positions, when i close it the gap toward the fron of the vehivle seems to get bigger overtime..

i'mm now driving a car which i wouldn't dare to open one of the door... sad >.<

Window problem

Postby SolaraGuy22 » Wed Oct 20, 2004 1:51 am

My window isn't off track too bad but the passenger side is harder to close, the windows go up too far on our cars and I hate how it cracks the seal in the front of the window. A problem I am having though is the window seal coming off when I roll down the window. I have like residue on the window or something from the weatherstrip and it's grabbing. I have to tuck it back in everytime. Hopefully it won't cost much to get it fixed when I bring it to Toyota. Anyone else have/had this problem? I'm at 59K miles.

Are you sure you have 59K miles on a Gen2? Sure you don't have an older Gen car? That's mega miles you're putting on. On my previous Gen1, I always had a residue buildup on the windows from the weatherstrip that I had to clean off but the Gen2 leaves none.

Window Problem

Postby SolaraGuy22 » Wed Oct 20, 2004 8:56 pm

I have a Gen 1.5, it is a 2002. I got it in October '01 and have done quite a bit of traveling. I drove over 50 miles just to buy the thing and just took a trip to NC, that was 1800 miles added there. It's the car we all take out since a couple of my friends don't drive and the ones that do have crap or 2 seaters. I will clean off the residue when I wash it this weekend but I think the window will still pull the strippinig down, I will ask Toyota what they think.

when u close the passenger side door, and u heard some cracking sound.
like some metal is hitting each other inside of door, GO TOYOTA DEALER TO FIX IT! i had this problem b4... the problem wasn't big, just sound rubber in the door didn't mount correctly. it's cover by warranty... so go dealer and bug them if u get problem...

i konw it's kinda sad for solara have this problem~
but, i think door with no frame is so cool~
i just feel it looks better than accord coupe's door~

This repair is under waranty. I had my passanger window go up past the roof arch. Took Toyota 4 Hrs to fix. they said it was a striker and stop issue. Has not happened since it was fixed 6 months ago. However my window hits hard when completelly lowered!
