I'm thinking of throwing this on my credit card, but have a couple questions. I remember reading that for automatics (which I have) there is no boost in 1st gear and also that boost doesn't happen 'till 3k rpm. Is that correct? Also, is the EBC the same for auto and manual? Can the EBC be reprogrammed? The main question: Is it a waste of money to supercharge an auto??

Yes, no boost until 3k, as for the "no boost in first"...not sure.
Yes, the EBC can be wired for both. I emailed TRD tech and they confirmed this. Reprogrammed...probably no. Toyota's are kinda funny that way.
The EBC is an afterthought by TRD (and Toyota Corp.) to help save the automatics life expectancy. Toyota would keep the warranty in place if you had them install it. I have never installed it on mine. If you put a cooler and run synthetic trans fluid it should be fine.
Waste of time....It makes it a completely different car!!!
Just do the fuel upgrades: pump, Jim's kit. And you should be able to boost to 5.5 safely and there is a considerable difference with 1 1/2 lbs. of boost.
Protect the auto with a cooler.
And maintenance, maintenance, maitenance.
Got Boost?? :sweet:

i think u will not have boost in first if u use the ebc.

The ebc should work for both manual and auto, it depends on how u hook up the wires.

and no, the ebc cant be programmed.

and no, its not a waste of money to supercharge an auto, the biggest whp numbers on this board came out of autos! but on a stock engine and stock tranny, 250whp should be the power level that the stock parts of the tranny can hold.

even then, u can hold more power as long as u remember not to floor it from a stop all the time (dont rape all the time) and be easy when going into or out of second gear.

**Edit** also, read what javajoe wrote. X2 on his statement of saying it makes it a diffrent car, it really does.

Thanks for the replies. Hmmm, this is something I'll really need to think about. No boost in 1st and no boost 'till 3k rpm does seem weird...

This is only if u USE the ebc.

and also, what do u need boost in the lower rpm ranges for? u'd really impede ur gas milage...by ALOT if ur constantly boosting.
