Anyone running 235/35/19 Tires?

Postby [SMAN] » Thu Mar 13, 2008 1:00 pm

Is anyone running these tires? I'm worried about cleaence issues with them in both stock and 1.5" lowered forms.

Yeah, i was looking at that, but the online tire size calculators said that was a bad fit for the spedometer. I was gonna go 225/40/19 but those are rare and hard to find.

I have 225/40R19 Toyo Proxes T1-R...last summer I had them mounted on my 19X8 Konig (+40mm offset) with no problem. The rims are sold now. I'm thinking to put them on some 19X8.5 +40mm offset So that way the tire will be postioned the exact same place as it was last summer. Since 225mm (tire width) is little bit bigger then 8.5" (216mm) the tire should react the exact same way.

About your tires question

Tire 1 - 225/40R19
Overall Diameter: 26.08 in 662.43 mm
Diameter Difference (with stockies): -0.88%

Tire 2 - 235/35R19
Overall Diameter: 25.47 in 646.93 mm
Diameter Difference (with stockies): -3.2%

The height is not the problem nor your concern I know. I think +45mm could be a problem on 8.5" wheels but since you check for 19X8 with +45 mm offset there will no problem. It gives you 8mm more space (tire to the suspension strut) compare with Ludwig (19X8.5 +42 offset) The only thing...I think it will look weak with the wheels too much inside the fender but it is your choice ! :D Not to forget...Ludwig use Eibach springs...they are 0.2" lower then TRD springs...

That is not the tire, that is the offset on the wheel that makes it close to the strut... I was pushing 235/35/19 on my old solara Gen1

and My girl pushes 235/35/19 fronts and 245/35/19 on the rears..... and has her CO's all the way down in the front and about 3/4 of an inch to go lower on the rears....Pic....

No rubbing issues.

What offset are those? And would they fit with a factory strut? cause i remember the CO's being a lot narrower than regular struts.

+37 are the offsets with a SuperLo dysk on the rear and a lo dysk on the front giving it that slight staggered look.

On the contrary, The shaft of Coilovers are much thicker, the difference is that there is no seat for a large spring on coiovers as there are on stock or even aftermaket struts (The shaft is what you need to worry about not the seat as far as having rubbing issues.).

Ok, so the general consencous is that 235/35/19 shouldn't have an issue other than it might be a little wide on my rim and that my rim might be a bit tucked, but i should have any issues with rubbing?

fwiw... I think I'm pushing the limits at
Fronts are 19x8" 225/40R19 89Y, 30mm offset
Rears are 19x8.5", 245/40R19 94Y 33mm offset

Rears were getting sliced by inside fender. (chop chop) Stock susp. :-?

ok, so last question. I was running a few numbers, and 235 is going to be 9.25 inches wide, but the rim is only 8 inches wide, so that's going to need roughly 5/8" overlap on either side. Is that acceptable, or is it going to be wrong since it's not going to be square up and down?

EDIT: I was reading http://www.wothrline.se/Tires/tires_info.htm and half way down it says that an ideal tire should be 25 - 40mm bigger than the rim. at 235, i'm right in the sweet spot at 31.8mm bigger than the rim.

It says that for extreme performance, pick equal tire and rime size... Still, I guess it will be ok. Good reading!
