Minor Left Drift Problem

Minor Left Drift Problem

Postby michaels artic frost » Fri Mar 26, 2004 3:56 pm

Okay! I know that the left drift problem has been ongoing for awhile now and I can finally say 'GOOD RIDDENS!' I hope... I wasn't for sure if I had the problem from the very begin. I had a minor left drift that I thought was not worth complaining about due to all of problems that others are experience with their local Toyota Service. Anyway, I had taken the car in to Toyota the first time and they told me that the air pressure on the left from tire was low and that should take care of the problem. 'Yea right!' Well, the left drift was still there and we're back to square one. Second visit, Toyota stated that they performed the recommended TSB. OMGosh! It was much worst, as soon as I let go of the steering wheel, 'To the left we go, to the left we go and into the otha lane.' And the steering wheel was not centered, it looked like they did not perform a front end alignment. Well...you get the point. Prior to scheduling the third visit, I contacted the Sales Manager that sold me the car and he said that he would take care of the issue and if it did not get fix, he would speak with the General Manager. Sure enough, 'Third times a charm!' I can honestly say the drive back to work was great and no more left drift. The car is in better shape then before. I hope this helps those who have this problem and are not sure if they should have this looked at. I would recommend it 100%. I hope my Local Toyota Service continues to keep up the good work - Toyota on Nicholasville in KY.

Thanks.

I brought my car in for the 5,000 mile service. I complained about the rear deck rattling. They said they found less insulation padding than what usually comes out of the factory and added more. I don't hear rattling anymore but have to do more test driving to see for sure.

I also told them I had very slight left drift. They rotated and balanced the tires and changed the tire pressure. The steering now seems to have more of a "riding on rails" feel. Before, when I let go of the wheel, I could see the wheel move very slightly to the left. Now that doesn't happen anymore. I still have a left drift on the left lane of highways where the crown of the road leans down toward drains but I guess that can't be stopped.

By the way, my VIN number was higher than the one where I would have to get the TSB done. The TSB was not done on my car.

So...are you going to take it back for the TSB fix or just gonna see how she drives for now? Glad to hear the rattling has been resolved. Minor issues annoy me with new cars. I guess those problems are usually there with 1st gen of new models heh?

I'm not going to take it back to get the TSB done since it rides fine. I always had a slight drift that I thought probably wasn't worth getting the TSB done to fix. I only see the drift on highways in the left lane where all the drains are on that side meaning it angles left so left drifting would be almost unavoidable.
