I understand what each of you is saying: XERD defending its position as a company, and Danny in the role of David vs. Goliath.
In support of XERD, I believe we can take their word for now, and hopefully for a long time in the future. They are making an honest effort to provide parts for us, which we can't say for many companies. Most companies don't view the Solara as a profitable venue, which is true, because you don't see a gazillion souped up Solaras on the road every day. Perhaps that leaves us to smaller companies to exploit, or maybe they honestly wish to build up a good reputation and a healthy market where both the customer and the company win. We'll have to see on that.
Hopefully, this CAI will prove to be worth all the hype that's been going around. In that case, we win because we get to have the long coveted CAI, and XERD wins because they successfully completed their project, giving them some profit, but in the long run, opening up doors to more projects.
As for Danny, I've also seen his car and read much about him for a while now. I know he is hardcore Solara, which draws both respect and awe from me. I know that he is genuinely interested in making Solaras better, so I wouldn't dismiss his questions because they make us uncomfortable.
Does Danny make any money? any profit by causing us to not buy XERD's CAI? He states several times that he is not out to sell his own CAI. As for the timing of his comments, Danny is not assigned to monitoring the Solara Guy forum full-time. To my understanding, he's a busy guy and comes to visit the forum when he can. He posts in spurts, and goes underground for a while, until he has time or something useful to say. Then he comes back. If you've read his posts, you would know that he has valuable things to say.
Look at his motives, he's got nothing to gain by hurting XERD. His question was an honest question. Does the CAI have long term problems? Isn't that something we should all be concerned about? That's like asking, "How long will this HID imitation bulb last?" That is not a cheap shot at the company. It is a natural law: things break.
Companies do make mistakes. XERD is saying that they are willing to take full responsbility for their work. If they do have a problem, they'll handle it. XERD shouldn't take offense to questions being asked. There is the possibility that they may have made an oversight of some kind. How does it hurt to question such things? Danny didn't ask, "Does your product suck?" IMHO, he asked a very technical and educated question. A question that none of us so far have had the experience or insight to ask thus far...including XERD if I'm not mistaken.
It has been my personal experience that even though we may have to swallow our pride from time to time, we should always listen to those who have more experience with specific things...even if we have more overall experience, Danny in this case has specific experience with the Solara platform's CAI. At the very least...it couldn't hurt to take a second and listen.
