Sup Bro,
IMHO... If your looking for one of the ultimate HU, then I'd go with the Alpine F1 series or the Pioneer Premier P9 w/ DEQ P9 (DSP). With both units, the gains/EQ/crossovers can be set/ controled by the HU. Both setups also have the option to go to a fiber optic connection setup. This transalates to cleaner signals (digital) to DSP unit then passed on to the AMPs. Talk about sonic nova.

That perfectly fits his $350 price range... I like your idea lilm111! You post your budget so we can help you find the best bang for the buck! We all don't have 3K to blow on F1 Status units.
Since you're doing a whole system, you may want to look into the Alpine series and sticking within that brand until you need to get other parts. I'm not too familiar w/ the units, but most of them sound pretty good.
As for amps, I'd go w/ Eclipse D-Class and Multichannel amps. Best rated THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and awesome S/N Ratio. Plus you get find them pretty cheap online now. The amps (higher end ones from Eclipse) have built in capacitors... lol I thought Toyota's charging system was strong. It was just the amp =P
For Components, it depends on your budget. I never really looked around for mine. I just heard the Diamond Hex and was impressed (my buddy's benz has them!). You may want to check out MB Quart (definately cheaper) or even check out Resonant Engineering (see link below) components. $ for $, they are awesome.
For subs, you may want to look up
www.reaudio.com . Give them a call and ask if there is a local dealer. RE SE Subs (nice middle of the line sub) runs about $250 retail. A lot of shops discount it if you mention the correct referral though. PM me if you need help getting these subs. They are almost on an "invite only" status! LOL! I've heard prices for 12" RE SE going for about $200... but it's all relative to your location and how much the shop would like to hook it up.
In the end, you may spend a little more than budgeted, but it'll save you money in the long run. You won't be swapping parts in and out of the car because you're not happy with it. Just save up a little more and spend the money correctly. You won't regret it!!!
