Have you taken it in for an alignment check? are your tires being eaten up from inside or outside. If so i would say the toe on the alignment is off. Usually the steering components loosen up and your steering wheel begins to go to the left or right even though the car is driving straight. In my opinion its a small alignment issue.

If you have a massive amount of play it could be the rack and pinion but your best bet is have them inspect all of the suspension components when you do the alingment check and they would let you know right then and there what the problem is.

alignment yourself ? yes it can be done i think either the toe or the camber can be adjusted or something like that, alignment isnt a DIY project, you need lasers and plates for your tires. ect correct me if im wrong( i think i am on the camber or toe part)

I have an inner tierod quiting on mine. You can't do a proper alignment with loose parts.

I tried the DIY alignment once.

It's a pain in the ass and takes for ever. Just pay to get it done.

ok man you cant have everything done DIY (half assed) You painting your ride with a roller was one thing, now your talking about using a plum line to do alignment. whats next a leaf blower as your supercharger

raised my car front R wheel has a little play

Is everyone ignoring this? It could be alot of things, but bad alignment does not cause play in the front right wheel. It's kind of the other way around. You need to narrow down what is causing the play, fix that, then go get it aligned. Modern cars have way too tight of tolerances for doing a good alignment yourself. Use the measuring method to get it close, so you can drive it too the shop without wiping out your tires, but really there is a reason that Hunter and the like use lasers and IR to get the readings for alignments.

Caster has no factory adjustment, you can get a minor camber bump on most Toyotas. For more camber you'll need a cam-bolt or slotted struts. You could also grind the strut bolts down a little to get a bit more movement in the hub, but the cam-bolts are cheap, and probably a bit stronger. Toe is adjustable in the front and rear our chassis.
