i dont know if refurbishing is the word im looking for, but im looking to fix the chipped chroming on the grill to make it look like new...

did anyone try those chrome pens? they look like liquid paper pens but its silver metalic colour. Im thinking os lightly sanding arround the chipping and applying that...

How about removing the chrome completely and leave it black... I even thought of cutting the inner plastic horizontal bars except the midle one and put a mesh there...

what do u guys think?
---------------------------------

Well, since no one has tried it before i thought i would go ahead and do it

So i painted my grill... it didnot give the chrome color i was looking for, but im happy with the reesults.

I used silver exterior paint in spray can and a clear coating spray... 3 coates of each and this is the result

i also did my head lights with 2000 grit sandpaper and plastix.

Many of us have had this problem and most of us sand it down and paint it black or get a renova grill.

I bought one from the dealership, cost too much but it make a nice difference, I have it for 1 year and sill look brand new. My old one was peeling and ugly, the car was looking older (same if it's a 1999 lol)

I blasted my grill with a pressure washer and all the chrome except on the Toyota emblem came off.

It was no work (I was washing the car anyway) and looks nice. Not silver tho.

you're headlamps could use a wet sand and polish :D, grill looks pretty good, didn't think it would turn out that good but it did. :D:D

Should've masked your pavement with old newspaper (unless you want the paint to stay there)... At least yours turned out good; mine looked like someone did a crappy job of priming it until I took some paint remover to it; THEN there was chrome in the nooks and crannies, but not where I wanted it... :(

That came out really nice. Quick paint job on the grill makes the car look so much newer on the Gen 1's
