Vent mount cellphone holder, flimsy louvers

I wanted to get a vent mount magnetic cellphone holder, but....

Is it my imagination or are the louvers in the vent in the center of the dash flimsier than in many other cars.

I have a 2005 Solara. I used one of these magnetic holders in a Mazda 2 rentacar, where you just push the rubber teeth in between the louvers, and it worked well, but although I had to return the Mazda, it seems my louvers are thinner and bend more easily. (One of mine was already disconnected from going up and down with the others when I got the car. Not broken except probably a little peg at one end.)

Any comments? Seem thinner? Anyone use one?
