Replace Passenger Side Mirror? Can't be this easy.
I have a 2006 SLE. Two nights ago, someone parked next to me, opened their door and a wind gust flung their door open into my passenger side mirror. It left a big crack across the colored back of the mirror. I would like to replace it. I popped off the corner plate on the door and saw that there are two nuts there and what appears to be a white plastic connector to the wiring.
I've read in many places online that usually, you can't just pop the cover, and unhook the mirror because the wiring harness is inside the door panel and the only way to do get to it is the remove the panel (which I do not feel qualified/ballsy enough to do). I find it hard to believe that if I can find a mirror, get it painted (which I did find a site that will get an OEM mirror and paint it the color you specify), then all I have to do is pop the cover, remove the two nuts, unhook the mirror and replace it with the new mirror.
It just can't be that easy ... can it? I figured before I try to get a painted mirror, I would post on here to see if other people have done this and if it is really just that easy. (Also, any suggestions of places where I can get an Absolutely Red mirror would be appreciated.)
Thanks in advance...
