jstarone wrote:That's a awesome idea. Where are you located? still have them? Im in eastern canada so it might just be cheaper to go find a 1992-1996 camry with the 1mz in it and pull them lol. Is there anything I will have to change? or is it just a direct swap?

Yes it is.
I'm located in Oklahoma, US of A.
Yeah be, sure to look for a 1992-1996 Camry wit a 1MZFE wit ABS, or a 1992-1996 Lexus ES300.
No, all you need is the brackets, calipers, brake pad clips for the bracket, and the wire clip for the brake pads [they keep the pads off the rotors after you left off the brake pedal]
It's a direct swap.

Wow, you learn something new everyday. I have the same V-6 that camrys from 1992 have....lol

And that same 1992 camry has better brakes!......are they really much better over the stock brakes?.....if so I'll go source some. I find the brakes on my 01 convertible are good, but not great in panic situations.

The surface area of the pads, are like 30% more....thats pretty much a big diffrence.

True, 2001's brakes are scary when racing or big traffic ahead on highway, 99 solara brakes are better even when fast lane changing, curve turn its more stable, i cant drive my 2001 the way i drove my 1999 solara's, when i change lane too fast i feel like the car is bend over aside, i dont know if my tire's pres is low or not reachin the max pres. Ive checked the front/rear strut bars they r fine but i havnt try to inflake more presure yet, i usually use 33 or 34 PSI what is the best air-inflake tires for Solara ? 33 psi 34 or 35/36 psi ????

^Umm, the brakes on both of the cars you mentioned should be exactly the same.

Uh, the 2001 and 1999 brakes are the same.
The reason why your car feels weird, is cause you're probably not lowered.

Twin piston setup is totally different than the OEM calipers from Solara's.

Ill lower after i move to California haaha, Canada is kinda crap-weather country, the snow is terrible if i lower, will probably die in the winter, the 1999 is very stable when i changing lane fast its goes n stops where i wanted to unlike the 2001. somethin weird with my suspension or springs.

Just a bump.
Just came back from the salvage yard.
Goin' to hook up another SG.com member on some twin piston calipers.

1. I still need to finish cleanin' and rebuildin' "Dawgz" twin piston calipers he's paided for.

If you're interested, PM me and i'll see in the next couple of days to pick them off for you before the car gets taken away.
Thanks.

Bump.
Price dropped to $60.00
I'll clean the calipers for you, but you'll need to get the pistons pressed out and get them rebuilt.

i'm interested, but not committed. lemme fix my Z3 first and if they're still around come early-mid august, i'll probably end up grabbing them.

lol, i already put the tranny bracket on (actually, it was only in my hands for about 4 hours before it made its way on the lara)...i need to replace the Z3 control arm and make sure that there's nothing else wrong with the suspension before i look to spend money elsewhere.

so in the meantime, free bump.
