Paint fade

Paint fade

Postby geminimouse » Sun Sep 21, 2003 2:52 pm

Couple weeks ago I got my vis front bumper painted, it was darker than the rest of the car. I called the shop and they said it was right color and that my original paint had became lighter with age so the bumper looks darker. They'll redo it for $150. Is this true or are they tryin to rip me off?

If they didn't have your ar to look at while they were painting the bumper, they wouldn't be able to properly blend the color in to match. But if they had your car , then this is unacceptable. BTW same thing happened to me, but I haven't yet repainted mine.

remember the bumper is made with different materials than the other parts of the car

But the different material shouldn't affect the finished color between the bumper and the car. The reason it looked different on some cars from the factory is because the bumpers were painted at a different place than the rest of the car and they must have mixed the paint slightly different. I agree with rapsux2001, if they had the car, they should've taken fade into account. If you ordered it painted that color, that is possible. -JoeB

When I had my trunk replaced, they charged me extra to have it blended to with the rest of my car since it was faded with age...
