Postby jong2be » Tue Oct 21, 2008 12:03 am

Hi~All! I think, this is my first posting. I got my 06 solara around 2 years ago and I upgraded some parts of my car last weekend.

-DIY lists-
1. Side mirror LED signal (in mirror type)
2. Heated side mirror
3. 07 led tail lamp -Thankx Reggie!

I just followed this step

removed side mirror and put heated patch and LED signal and connected LED signal to tail light, heated patch connected heater relay.

4.Wood trim- using wood vinyle (Home Depot-$4)

5. change audio system with customize trunk box

I didn't use MDF. I went Home Depot, but the MDF price was around $20. so I went IKEA, then I got this black wood with $3bucks!!

Is there any other things what do i have to upgrade? If so, please recommand~!

I like the LED mirror.. where have you find that product? how much? It's 10x better than putting on the mirror a led arrow..this seems to be OEM.

I really like that LED mirror mod....I searched for a product like that once, and came up empty handed. All I found was those ghetto ones that you stick onto the outside of the mirror.

I wish I could understand something on that site though.

Umm, I tried to use English- Korean Translator, but it was not so cool.
most of letters are in the image file.. so I think, you guys can't use it either.

Here is steps.
(I know my english is still sucks, so if u can't understand some of steps, plese let me know. lol)

1. remove side mirror from the car.

Image

2. using heating gun or dryer (in my case, I use dryer. that's enough)
-to disjoint plastic and mirror.
I heard, most of car used silicon for glue so they need to heating gun or dryer. However, solara was kind of black sticker. it's more difficult than silicon type to make separate.

Image

3. in my case, my solara doesn't have side mirror heat. so I got another car's side mirror which it has side mirror heated then I used dryer to separate it. after that I put it on my side mirror with led signal.

this image shows how can we remove heated pad from another car
Image

then put them together as this picture
Image

4.pu together again ( I already said, our solara wasn't use silicon glue. it was just black sticker type glue. so after we separate it, we can't use black sticker type flue. so in my case, I bought silicon then put together.

Image

5. connect line whereever you want. in my case, I connect it from tail lights.

oh, if you guys really want to get this led side mirror signal, I'm willing to bring it from Korea.

The SLE's have heated driver's side mirror, and it automatically comes on with (I think) either the seat warmers or the defroster.
