Swapping drivers side mirror.

Swapping drivers side mirror.

Postby Mossy » Thu Sep 27, 2007 6:46 pm

I damaged my drivers side mirror, and need to replace it, I bought a replacement.

How difficult is it to swap? It seems to be plug and play? Remove door panel and remove previous mirror.

Is the plug in the door itself or in the grommet, rubber sleeve that runs to bottom of the A-pillar area?

Anybody? Tips tricks? Any input will be appreciated.

open up the door. see that lil black piece covering up where the mirror is? [looks a little like a weird triangle]. take that out, you should see three bolts. undo those, and you are set.

^^^It takes alot more then that...when I did it, I had to take off the door panel to release the cable that controls the motion of the mirrors.

HAHA I had my hopes up. I ran out into the driveway sockets in hand. Took of the plastic cover only to find one of the bolts was covered. DOH!

I did not see a cable, I have a heated power mirror, I can see the whole connection of the mirror to the door frame, there was no cable, there was wires, perhaps that is what you meant?

a heated power mirror? i never heard of that on a gen 1. must be a gen 1.5 you got? maybe? to save the trouble, just do what i said lmao, then do what Latin said, one way or another it isn't exactly that hard to get it off. I think Latin was talking about the cable that runs up and down the regulator.

I had heated mirrors on both of my SLE's (99 & 03) and I never found it to be useful. When is it even useful because they fog up too. By the way, is the SE a plug and play with the SLE?
