I find that your sound clip that you posted is really really good !!

This is GREAT! More to the "Circle of Friends".... those of us in the "know" are just waiting to hear your corroboration for our experience.

CAUTION!!!!

Assuming the kit is either "identical" to the "tuneable" version, or similar in respect to the instructions (I can't imagine it could be different --> I'm speaking from an '04 install....)

BE CAREFUL when you "TAP" the "LIGHT GREEN WIRE"!

It is probably the most "tricky" wire due to it's location "within" the harness coupler. (Most are on an "outer perimeter", that one is like, "twisted" within the pack....

Anybody else notice that?

Take your time, it's really straight forward....

TAKE PICS!

The actual clip is nearly 5 minutes, captured with an iPOD w/small mic attachment, duct-taped to the battery cable immediately behind the battery.... (I didn't expect the wind/sucking noise to sound like I was TOTALLING it everytime I lifted off-throttle!!!)

The file was aac (or whatever iTUNES is...), so I played it back on the iPOD and "re-captured" it through the mic input on my laptop with "Audacity" --> freeware. Then I saved the file as a .wav file. (Over 12MB....) I "trimmed it down" a little, and sent it to Jeff. He further "edited" it for length, and converted it into Mp3.....

PHEEEEWWW! All that to share the love.....

I'd like to "filter" the mic next time with a bunch of "mohair" or something and run through the gears to a buck-twenty or so under WOT. Then I'd like to "on/off" through a few hard corner-straight combinations.....

If I get around to it.... I'll be sure to try to "produce" something for the gang.....

BTW, has anyone fried a tranny on one of these yet????? :evilbat:

Yes, Sebas... and I agree. His sound clip is great!

I'll look at mounting a digital camera in the vehicle and taking a short clip with speedo&tach in view... It'll eliminate the "wind/sucking" noise, as well....

Mine was with a DV cam but it was top up, windows closed. So muffled but no wind noise. That was taken the night I picked her up from cp-e over a year ago. (and my tranny is fine btw.) Still want one w/ the top down though. Big difference.

Thanks for all the effort to get your clip posted (Jeff too).

I took the day off today to install the kit coz i couldnt wait till sunday. well after nearly 2 hrs of install time, i was ready to test it. put in the key, turned on the engine and after a second, the car died. tried it again, and still the same. i was like WTF... what the heck did i do wrong? i disconnected the battery immediately and looked at the manual over and over again to try to find out what i did wrong. everything seem fine as far as i know. well, it must be the maf customizer connection to the ecu. removed them all again, double checked and found out that one connection was loose while i was putting back all the connectors to the ecu. i checked all the connections again and plugged them securely. i connected the battery, turned the engine on and VOILA.... it worked. i noticed tho the first time i started the car the idle rpm was more than 2k. it never happened before. but after a while it went back to normal. test drove it and all i can say is WOW..... you guys are telling the truth... this thing really ROCKS. i drove a few blocks and noticed the difference... the car reacts faster now. i still have to test drive it tomorrow as i dont want to drive in the traffic specially that it's already rush hour. i'm a little afraid tho that one of my connection to the ecu would become loose again and would stop the car in the middle of the highway. when i have the luxury of time, i'll have them soldered.
laterz..... :) :) :)

M10 socket (deep well). Don't worry about the "DURON" (or whatever the tradename) anti-vibration mount wanting to "twist".... it will "hold" at some point and the "nylon" encapsulating nut will make slow progress a little at a time as you work the ratchet (about 180-220 degress rotation at a time to make 20-40 degrees progress - unless you have a real long extension, which is better, then you can just keep rotating the handle around and around continuously... --> don't "dink" the intake pipe...) until you have gotten the nut down to "clamp load" position (snug to the washer). It can help to dab a little WD-40 or similar lube (use a little motor oil if you don't have anything else...) on the nylon thread part of the nut.... The nut is designed this way to serve as a "locking feature"..... this prevents the nut from "backing off" or "loosening" over time.

Holler if you have any further difficulty. Oh, yeah.... on the wiring with the Scotchlocks, did you use a plier and make sure that they were "clicked" or "fully compressed" onto the wires in the ECU harness?

Good luck, and HAPPY DRIVING!!!

Happy to see that everything goes fine....the connection between 3M connectors and AFC is maybe the only "weak" point but once you solidify it...you have a pretty clean installation ! :D

BTW my car too went over 2000 RPM first time and went back under 1000 after sometime running...

Congrats and enjoy ! :) 8)

thanks sebas... i tightened it and it's now secured. the light green wire on the ecu harness is a little b*tch to find. there must be 10 green wires in there. i'll try to find an alternative connector so that i can solder the wires directly...

Those wires are easier to get to if you tug the harnes out a bit. My connection is about 2" away from the harness where it's easier to separate the wires. You really have to yank on it to get that extra though but it's in there and you won't hurt anything.

I've got 18 months and two "revert to stock" efforts so far and the 3M Skotchloks are doing the job just fine.

FINALLY - ordered my tunable MAFci today!

Since they haven't been in production for awhile - I have no idea how long it will take to actually get it, but hopefully some time in the not-too-distant future! ;)

Then I can be as obnoxious about the CP-e intake as Sebas and Down2TheC!! :drinking:
