Window tinting cost

Postby Somedude » Fri Apr 07, 2006 8:48 pm

I had my car's tints done at a shop located next to Coggin Honda in Orlando, FL, for $110. The material they used was lumar (I don't really know how to spell that).

My car has 20% tints all around except the front windshield.

is it just me or has a tint job gone up in like the past 3 yrs? Ive never paid more than a hundred, but im hearing everybody here say $150+? All my friends never paid near what most hear are claiming. And 2 doors are always cheaper. You should always go to a tint shoop and act like $100 dollars is all you have and the odds of them dooing it are high!

I got the Llumar Metallic (won't fade)
Millenium 20% rear $33.75
Millenium 35% sides $45.00
Labor $125
After tax a grand total of $220.56

The top of the rear was difficult to tint because of those dots. They said they could black it out if I wanted, but I think they managed to tint it just fine. This has a lifetime warranty, plus one free window replacement for any reason. Broken window, chipped, scratched, I don't like the way it looks, etc.

never seen tint done on a single window in more than one piece. should always be one piece. if there are more windows, it will cost more, ie. small windows on rear doors like the corolla. ask a dealer ie, lexus, bmw, toyota for a referal to someone they highly recommend and that they have been using for some time. make sure the actual person doing it is same person and not a trainee or someone new. to do well can be tricky and must be clean underneath. have done at a location where done indoors.

You get what you pay for.
You pay a lot, you get a good job.
You pay a little, quality suffers.

well it all depends where you go, like i said i paid 70, lifetime warranty, and have not had a problem and its been 2.5 years. I am very happy with the install and the looks. Someone said to go there with like 100 bucks at the most and make it seem like its all you got and they will most likely do it anyway. i only had 70 and they took it in an instant.

I Said that, alot of people dont know you can deal with them, and tint aint rocket science and film doesnt cost alot. Yeah my brothers got his 4 door 2002 accord for 100 his chicks 2001 camry for 80 bucks. and if you get one window done its 15. so i dont know how 200 hundred 150 or wutevers adds up?

The shop quoted me for $180. He said he only uses SunGuard. Has anyone heard of this brand? Is it any good? Otherwise, I would just go with another shop that is using Llumar for $200. Thanks guys.
