SE V6 power steering effort

SE V6 power steering effort

Does anyone know how to get the regular steering effort back? I would rather have the SLE's steering effort. This car is big and it should have big car steering, imo. That mean's one finger steering effort in parking lots and light steering on road. The car is big and wide in the front end and as the car follows irregularities in the road it pulls the steering with it. Try a BMW 3 series and you will know what i mean. Even though this is a fwd, i think the SLE has much less of this tendency. I think the SE's w' TRD rsb and springs handles very well - the best of any current Toyota, but it could be better for my tastes. I think the SLE effort will provide enough road feel to communicate at limit adhesion but also make this high speed cruiser a more relaxed ride at 80mph+. I tried the RSB on the stiffest setting and it is great in tight corners but too twitchy at higher speeds.

If you're still on stock tires, some of that goes away with a better brand.

am saving! got 40kms and they are getting close to wear strips. a handfull over 100kmh with any standing water. not sure how dangerous it acually is unless in a corner cause the car is big and wide. but it's kinda fun having the car move around alot except when i have passengers! it was really scary for awhile but ive gotten used to it. i am thinking of michelin pilot sport but are only for summer. think that would make steering nicer? think they would be real crappy in light snow?

You try making a turn at 50MPH (roughly 80km/h?) while not realizing there were steel plates in the road... Almost seemed like I lost power steering for a while. I was REALLY late for work, and I was pissed off that I was hitting every red light there was, and towards the end everybody was doing about 25mph on a 40 for no apparent reason.

After I cut a car off (what's worse, pissing one guy off and living thru it if I don't see this guy again or losing a job?) and darting past an 18-wheeler, I hung the hardest right I ever made, and the car lost control over the plates and I almost hit the concrete island.

i am trying to determine if a easy and low cost switch to the SLE steering effort from the SE is possible. the SE's higher steering effort does have sport intentions but i think lighter steering will give less effort and higher enjoyment.

are you sure?

the SLE steering is light and numb

it gives you no almost feedback at all

it feels like you are steering a PS2 steering wheel and the wheel themselves are connected to a motor or something

i want light and numb. i find the SE steering and the whole car to be extremely predicatable and i dont think higher effort steering has anything to do with it. i have the trd springs and rsb and this gives the car nice flat (relatively) cornering with much less of the wander and pogo feeling from before. i am finding the handling to be one of the very best for a big fwd'er. i want to be calm and relaxed without fighting a tugging wheel as the vehicle dynamics change over various conditions.
