Vortech Superchargers on Gen1 / 1.5 4 Cyl

Postby PhreakdOut » Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:24 am

I confess that being a Gen2 owner, I don't read the Gen 1 / 1.5 threads in great detail. However I'm curious on this one:

For those who are supercharged: Is there anyone who is NOT using a TRD supercharger?

I found this company who appears to have made a kit to mount the Vortech Centrifugal supercharger to the 5SFE Gen1s.

Here is the header setup they have as well.

All SDS kits come complete; there is no guess work, systems include:

•RIPP SDS (Supercharger Drive System) 6061 Aluminum CNC design and fabricated

•RIPP Black Box Preprogrammed (Fuel and timing controller no out side tuning required at all)

•RIPP 2 Bar MAP Sensor for exact ECU boost communication

•RIPP/Vortech V5 G-Trim Supercharger

•RIPP Blow Off Valve

•RIPP Over Drive Crank Pulley (Billet Aluminum 1.75lbs) 9-11psi

•RIPP Boost Cooler, with digital controller

•Four 270cc Venom Injectors with clips

•Malpassi Rising rate fuel pressure regulator with gauge

•All 6061 aluminum piping

•Four Ply silicon hose (Gloss Black Red or Blue)

•Walboro 255 in tank Fuel pump

*All hardware and clamps included

•2 Part 20 page Illustrated Instructions

•Easy 6-10 hour install

•One year warrantee included from date of purchase

Has anyone worked with these guys before? My reasons for asking are selfish. I considered contacting them next year for development of a system on the V-6 Gen 2.5. Just move the battery to the trunk to make room for the unit. (Fresh off the line in September)

All that money spent, and they still cant beat a solara v6. Not worth it IMHO, although it really does look nice. Isn't this the kit that was selling for 4-5 grand before?

I was planning to buy it but looking at how my car is setup.. not worth it unless I do a major engine/tranny rework on it. I might was well save up the rest after I finish the minor mods to my car and head for a RWD applicable car later in a couple yrs?

I guess my main question is:

Is anyone running this?

Any feedback on this company?

I'm not really concerned about the merits of this system versus a turbo.
I'm just looking at the company itself to see if they'd be interested in making a S/C kit for the Gen2 V-6. It looks like TRD will never get there.

I figure I'd post here since the forementioned kit is for the Gen 1. The Gen2 guys probably have no idea on this company.

Any info is appreciated.

:D I believe DatSRboi looked into this company awhile back. He was trying to get Rippmods to build a cahrger for the 1MZ-FE 3.0L V-6 for the GEN1's since the TRD Kazuma Supercharger (Magnuson Eaton SC) is no longer available from TRD (discontinued). DAT might still have that info on hand.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/450608

I believe this dude had more pics but i guess he took them off. But I knew there was one Solara dude on the cardomain site that had the Rippmods kit on his Gen1 Solara. He never responded to my post so I guess he's not interested in helping another dude who's curious about the kit when I was looking into the kit. But that's about as much credit that was shown to Rippmods. The local authorized reseller which is also my Tein reseller isn't authorizing Rippmods anymore due to bad fitmets on Mitsubishi cars. But they never had a Toyota car to work on with a Rippmods kit so I can't give any details how worthy they are.

I am on a groupbuy though, at ToyotNation's 5SFE Rippmods header. It doesn't come with the Hi-flow cat so I have to grab a universal hi-flow cat when the time comes around when I want to install the header with a new exhaust system. So far, there are some 5SFE drivers with this header already installed an only the O2 Sensor wire needed a resplice for a wire extension and some bolts to cover up some holes??? Clueless since no one has a detailed header pic in their hands.
