Geez, he calls it a lemon because of the drift and transmission lag. LOL
The one gripe he has that looks to be a pain is the very early tire wear.

What kind of issues do they have? Cuz I was considering that as my "next car" when I give this one to my sister in a few years

I can appreciate this guy's fustration.

I'm still dealing with same left drift issues and throttle lag problems this person describes (although both are somewhat improved from when I first got the car).

The dealership has bascially sucked at resolving these issues (now its easier to blame the left drift on my AM wheels and tires even though they are superior to the OE ones and exactly the same size/specs as the 18" TRD wheels they wanted to sell me)!

We paid good money for our cars. Its not unreasonable to expect them to run right.

DocJohn,

That's one of the main reason why I had the left drift issue fixed before I got my dubs. Although it took them three tries to resolve the left drift, I'm quite happy with my ride and sorry to hear that some of you haven't had the issue resolved. A buddy of mine that's local has the same left drift issue. I test drove his car and seems to be doing the same thing mine was in the beginning.

I'm going to contact the dealership that fixed my left drift and have them schedule him an appointment and have they use the same fix on his car. I hope this works.

By far do I see problems with my 2004 solara that would make me believe that I have a lemon!

I had the Left Drift problem the first time.... they replaced the springs and stuff like that....

Now, I've brought it back twice for a RIGHT DRIFT problem.... and still not fixed! And not coming out with new parts for our car is really not helping me like this car anymore....

But, theres good sides on this car too

Michael:
I totally agree the gen 2 Solara is NOT a lemon, especially when you compare it to some of the horror stories I've heard about other cars like the AT "catastrophic failures" on the last Acura CL and some Hondas. I was saying that I "feel the pain" of the guy who started lemon website.

I had the left drift problem addressed by the dealership before I got my AM wheels. There was a significant improvement and I thought maybe new tires would "fix" the rest of it. I've got 7500 miles on the car now and it acutally seems to have "regressed" a little in regards to the left drift.

If you can find out exactly what your dealership has done to corect the problem, please let me know. At this point I would be willing to pay someone to do the same thing for my car. Or maybe I'll take my car to your dealership if they would be willing to fix it. It would definitely be worth the drive!

I created this webpage, I am not the owner of the Solara, the car belongs to a friend of the family. The home page has been updated as to what is really wrong with this peticular Solara.

I know the page itself isn't very good, however I am not a webmaster, I am a computer Technician, 8m.com is a freeserver and I did the best with what I knew.

Now if I had a $1000+ to spend, and a whole host of webmasters at my disposal I to could have had a webpage like http://www.donotbuydodge.ca/ I talked to him, and he owns a Web Design company. Me, I know nothing about html, and even less about java. With what I had to work with, and what I knew I think I did an ok job. Brian (the owner of the Solara) is happy with the way the page turned out.

Thank you.

If the car was truely in an accident like he said, and he brought the car thinking it was new, and the dealership and Toyota are doing anything about that, then this is very simple, get a lawyer., because that's against the law plain and simple.

Hey... ya never know with those crazy Canadians. Ya hey der. Maybe it's legal up there. I'm just glad that my ride only sometimes, barely drifts right. not enough to risk Toyota making it worse. And I've accepted the lag as part of life with the TBW. They'll figure that out in the next ten years when I want to buy my next car. (Plus, I swear the reset helps!)
