ok so i dropped off my car for my oil to be changed and my tires rotated. (and of corse the sunroof noise that just started getting bad again since its getting colder here). so i get a call from the dealler that i need new brakes and new tires.

less then 15000 miles and new tires and brakes???

i mean i'm not all that gentle to my car or anything... but my old camry i hade toyo provies on (just like this one) and it took 22000 before i needed a new set. and brakes this early is whats really scaring me. i mean 25... 20... maybe even 17.5... but less then 15???

good news is that i've got tires for life (nothing like a free set of toyos :D ) ... and i'm trying to work something out with the dealler about the brakes cuz this is way too early... BTW are there trd brake pads out for the 04???

(on another note... i had a road trip about a month ago... and with 4 people and their bags and my sub encloser... we still hit 143mph with no issue and smooth as can be)

That's a pretty scary post. I have no idea of the life of your Toyo's and I think most here have the Bridgestone EL42's. It doesn't sound right at all that both your brakes and tires would need replacing at your mileage. Did you yourself do the Lincoln penny trick to see how much tread is left? Was the wear on your tires uneven causing greater wear on one side maybe causing the need for such early replacement? Have you heard any sounds from the brakes signalling very little brake pad left? I haven't seen or heard of TRD brake pads out yet.

Is Tarzana or something of that sort good? I've never heard of it. At least you guys have brand names. :(

Hmm, I never knew these cars also came with Michelins or Tarzanas. Which Michelins are they?

The stock Bridgestones suck. Mine, according to the coin test, have 4 mm of tread left with under 12,000 miles (tires become illegal at 2 mm). I can expect that sort of wear from performance tires but not crappy all-season touring tires.

I'm eyeing Pirelli PZero Nero M+S tires but it'll be over $600 them. Significantly cheaper than Pilot Sports or Potenzas but I am not ready to spend that yet.

Do those Pirelli's come in the same size as the Bridgestones?

They come in a similar size. I think you lose .5-.75" in sidewall height and gain 10 mm in width.

Sorry it has taken so long for me to answer this. They are Michelin Energy. My first Toyota I bought from the same dealership in Virginia Beach it had these same tires. Not sure why they use them. Here's a picture:
