ECU Reset to New Tire Size?

ECU Reset to New Tire Size?

Postby TW85 » Thu Oct 14, 2004 7:29 pm

I'm thinking of replacing the crappy OEM Bridgestones with Pirellis. The closest size to OEM the Pirellis come in is 225/45R17 which will make the speedometer read a little too fast. Can a Toyota dealer set the speedometer to accurately read with the new tire size?

the difference will be so miniscule that you will not notice the difference in speed.

have you thought other than pirelli?

Pirelli seems to be the best option from everything I've read. Nearly all reviews/tests are very positive and it (PZero Nero M+S) is more realistically priced than a comparable Michelin Pilot...

Why do you ask?

The tires I found in the 215/55R17 size all seem to be equivalent to the OEM Bridgestones.

Are there fitment issues? It doesn't seem like it would be a problem to go to a 225/45R17...

try hunting for 50 series tires, although there shouldnt be any fitment issues by going 45.

i hope you know that by going into lower series, the more road noise and less cushion you get while driving.

unless you are looking for slight steering response.

I'm running 235/45R18's with no problems, so I can't see how you would encounter any problems with 225/45R17's.
