So i just got my denso Ik20s and magnecors.

im not very mechanically inclined and i hear that its a really a bitch to install the spark plugs and i have no clue about the wires so im probably gonna have to get them installed by a shop. I dont wanna mess anything up and i want to make sure its put in properly.

i called around and the cheapest estimate i got is 60-80 ..
is it worth it or should i just take the time and figure it out myself?

On another note...
i was in traffic today and my car stalled out for no reason. I didnt really notice anything out of the ordinary. so it freaked me out. I started it back up again no problem and everything since then it was fine.
Hope its nothing bad..

after installing my supercharger, I would almost rather pay $70 to have new plugs installed

I believe its just a matter of removing the intake manifold... it isnt too hard, just time consuming. You could even use the first part of the supercharger instructions to do it.

You don't need to pull the intake to replace the plugs. It's a tight squeeze but standard hand tools and a little patience will get the rear three plugs out. I'm a line tech for toyota so i do them all day long. It'll probably take an hour or so the first time you do it.

I did mine for the first time...front three took no time at all. The rear two should be fine, whether you have big or small hands. Its all a matter of maneuvering the sockets and extensions how they work best.

I did all 6 of mine in less then 45mins...now it would probably take me 30mins or less. You'll be fine, just read the tutorial and get to it!

So I tried it cuz i thought it was pretty str8 forward.
i manage to get all but the middle rear plug. And i decided to get that last one some other time.. cuz i got work tomorrow morning.

well i mustve screwed something up... cuz my car is misfiring.. Rough Idle and i smell gas. So I figure fuel must not be burning. And now im freaking out.. i dont know what to do.

I knew i shouldnt have done it myself... I dont think i can ever trust myself to do my own maintenance ever :(

Somebody help plz.. anyone?!?

you might have run the wires wrong from the front coils to the rear plugs. check your stock wires to see which coil goes to which rear plug, then double check how you have them run. hopefully thats all it is! g/l with that.

Ok so im gonna redo everything..
I think its funny how last night it took me like 4 hours to do everything. But today it only took me 15 minutes.. And I even got that pesky middle rear plug.

But yea i cleaned everything off. And im gonna put it all in again soon. Thought id get some pointers before I do.

I put the antiseize yesterday. Where do i put the dielectric grease? I was reading something that came with the magnecor wires and said not to put grease in the boot.

Another thing is .. how much should I tighten it? I google a lot of things that said be careful how much you tighten it.

And just to make sure.. i think this might be my problem.. Which wires go where? anyone have pics or anything?

sorry for my misleading post, the only time I had ever done the plugs was with the intake manifold removed... the impression i got from previous threads was that doing so was almost a necessity.

I believe there is a torque spec for the spark plugs and it wasnt terribly tight..

If you can wait till Dec 15th ill be in OP and can do it for you :)

Other then that much help, I say just look at the pics on the tutorial. Not sure how run the wires though :(
http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=10551

Did you force any of the plugs in (perhaps strip a plug)
Did you use the little packages of that special lube?

let me look at my service manual. ill get back to this post...

Save these on your computer, they should be able to zoom pretty well...

I know how your feeling, maybe someone you know knows cars, call them up, Its always helpful to have someone who knows something about cars along side you...

i changed mine for the first time i under one hour. but according to whatever you have in there i would also think the misfiring could be caused by wrong wire connections.
also , were your spark plugs pre-gapped? i dont know if it would be something to consider, just thought i might mention it.

ok so it was my wires...

for future reference

The correct firing order is: 1-4,2-5,3-6

Meaning (for anyone else who doesn't know longitudnal v-6 orientation) the plugs should be connected in this order in the engine bay:

a c b
b a c

guess this was a good learning experience for me. Now I change plugs in probably 15-20 minutes.. The only problem i really had was having enough leverage to loosen the plugs
