Big Brake Kit Opinions

I started on a big brake upgrade on my car and would anybody be intrested in OEM 13" rotors with a caliper relocation kit for very inexpensive. I'm talking about $140 for CNC machined aluminum brakets with all the hardware neccesary to move your calipers to accept 13" rotors. I priced the Rotors and Raybestos start at $80 all the way up to Cross and Slotted Brembos for $300 each. You could wind up spending as little as $300 total. I took my spindels and rotors to the machine shop so I need an idea of how many to make.

These are for Gen4/Solara.

I just installed a Energy made prototype and am sending another to Carlo to test. I think they might be to soft and they only pour what I want once in a blue moon so I'm working on it but it might take a while.

The Big Brake kit should be ready in a month, I just need to find out how many to make. The more I can make the cheaper the price.

Eric, I know NOTHING about brakes. I put everything into "GO" and nothing into "STOP". Probably not wise. Can you explain what you said above in layman's terms? What is it we have stock, what is it we are considering and how good is it? Maybe it'll help others as well but they didn't want to ask. -JoeB

What I said was replace your whimpy 11" rotors with 13" using your stock calipers moved out for the bigger rotors. Like I said depending on the rotors you buy you could have big brakes for $300 total instead of the Brembo kit for for $2k.

Heres a good way to explain what these can do for your brakes even on stock calipers.

Spin a bike tire...

Now try and stop it by grabbing in the center of the rim,
Then try and stop it by grabbing the actual tire.

The further out you grab, the easier it is to stop. Therefore the larger rotors will increase braking power.

Get the goodridges like I have. I might do a caliper upgrade in the future but its expensive, how many people bought the $2k Brembo kit? My cost on 4 piston calipers is like $400 each, you add a $300 Brembo rotor and the matching steel line and the custom made CNC brakets to make it bolt on and you quicky get to $1k a side and like I said there already is a $2k kit on the market.

I like the idea of $140 brakets that you can get your own rotors for. I personally found Raybestos for $80 each, that puts the total cost at $300.
