Winter clean up plus some new stuff and a bonus *update*

Postby SleeperSolara » Thu Mar 10, 2011 12:18 pm

So this winter i really neglected my car and the Solara sat hella for a couple weeks.
I also put in my projectors so far..... Only thing is that i still need to buy some plastic sheets to vacuum form my shrouds.
So i've been runnin' around at night wit open headlights.
They look alittle weird maybe a tad bit ghetto, but still the bad arseness comes out at night [no sexual intent].

So here are the pictures.

Image
^^
2 tone dirty.

Image
^^
Struts and brakes just a tad bit dirty. lol.

Image
^^
Rims a tad bit dirty.

Image
^^
After about an hour of washin'.

Image
^^
Struts and brakes cleaned up.

My new rear calipers.

Image
^^
Powder coat goodness.

Now i have matchin' front and rear powder coated calipers.

Now for my projectors.

Image
^^
At shot from the sunroof.

Image
^^
Distance shot.

When i drive at night on a local highway that has 3 lanes, when i drive in the middle lane my projectors will light up all 3 lanes includin' the emergency lanes on both side. :D
Also when a car rolls up next to my car, their headlights disappear within my projectors output.

Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.

**UPDATE PICTURES**

^^
Here's the basic parts for the retrofit.

Image
^^
Cuttin' my second bracket i had drawn up in AutoCAD.
Still had to modify it.
Always wanted a sparks picture. Turned out pretty good since the Solara was in the background.

Image
^^
Got this great idea from HIDplanet.
Headlight reflector jig.

Image
^^
Projectors mounted.

Image
^^
The rear mess of the mountin'.

Image
^^
The bottom "L" brackets are inside the reflector now so i could get the projector level.

Image
^^
The shroud i'll be usin'.
Also have E46R ones.

Here are the projectors mounted in the car currently.

Image

Image

Image
^^
Denso ballast locations.
I got 2 OEM covers, got some bolts and nuts from Ace Hardware, pexiglass and rubber door seal from Home Depot, and Hook and Tie from Harbor Freight.

Image
^^
Taken about level wit the projectors.

Image
^^
Alittle above.

Image
^^
Projectors on.

Image
^^
High beam goodness.
Really don't need it.

All i need to do is buy some High Impact plastic sheets to vacuum form, also get some new corners, make them black chrome-ish. Then seal up everythin'.

Will do.

The projectors are BMW E46 bi-xenon projectors.

The projectors are modded wit the RV shield trimmed, and the actual shield at 2 mm away from the bowl, also have ZKW lens.

Will take a picture of the whole set up when i get home.

I'm jelly of your clean brake calipers.

I wish I would've powdercoated mine instead of just using caliper paint... :(

I know.
Ballin' status?? lol.
Yeah i have the caliper paint for about 2 years when it started to fade and chip, and then i meet a friend who did some powder coatin' and when i just got the twin piston calipers, i asked him to powder coated them Brembo brake red.
He did 2 coats of the red and 2 coats of clear.
When he was done and i saw in person holy shitz it was really bright. Even behind my Revo's they poppin' out like no other.
Now i have the rears powder coated close to the fronts, and lovin' it.
