This is a great way to sort pics of cars by paint color. Feel free to start up a thread of your own with your paint color. Post up as many as you like. This will be a gallery of pics. It's a great way to document the progress of your ride. Feel free to come back and update your set of pics often.
Please only post up pics of your Sand Mica Solara.

I'm starting with these few pictures of this rare color.

Sunset is when Sand Mica stands out the most...

In my opinion: Post ALL the pics you want. Just keep the pics in one posting. The intent of these Gallery threads is for fellow SG members to find a car in the same color so they can envision what other mods or options might look like. Kind of a place for ideas or inspiration.

To all others: If you have pics of other members' rides, feel free to post them up as well. Just as a courtesy, please remove license plate info and give credit (by screen name) of the owner of the car.

Have Fun!

Re: Wheel & Tire size on jimm's 2005 Soloara

Postby Mark74 » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:21 pm

Greetings jimm,

I recently purchased a Desert Sand, 2005 Solara SE with the V6, same as yours. Unfortunately, mine came with the 215/60/16 tires on the 16" rims. I'm seriously considering upgrading to at least the 17" Rims with 215/55/R17 tires. It appears that you have the Toyota "Sport" 17" Rims on your Solara, which looks great by the way. If I may ask, what are the tires you have mated to your rims? Any information about the tire brand and specs would be appreciated.

Hello Mark. Thanks for your comments and interest. The tires that came with my car
when I bought it 17 months ago were Kumho Esta ASX 215 55 17's. They are what you see in the first four pictures. About 3000 miles ago I bought a new set of Michelin's the same size which you see in the last two pictures below. They are Michelin Primacy MXV4 H-RATED (130 MPH) 60,000 miles with 620 treadwear.
The tread pattern on the Michelins is very refined and not as aggressive looking as the big wide grooves of the Kumhos. The Michelins are a whole lot quieter and smoother and I suspect that they will also last longer. I suspose the 17 in. wheels are standard to the 2004 SLE V6.

Actually, this color is called Gold Dust Metallic 4Q5 used between 2000 - 2003. The Desert Sand Mica 4Q2 was used in 2004 - 2008. http://www.toyotareference.com/solara#SO For all intents and purposes, they are the same, but there is a noticeable difference.
