Finally....some pics of my backup camera...

Postby dvdchris45 » Sat Apr 22, 2006 6:02 pm

Hey folks, I've had my X|O Vision backup camera ever since I had my stereo done but I never got around to posting pics of it until now.

Oh yeah, notice how I closed off the gaps on the OE Navi. dash kit. I cut up some fiberglass pieces and used Epoxy to get it to stick. The paint is a perfect match.

If anyone is interested on the paint code/brand PM me and I'll dig it out of my garage. Enjoy!

If you have the Toyota OEM Navi unit, the Eclipse BEC 105 (wide angle) camera is a direct fit to the navi unit.

I mounted mine on the license lights/ lift gate door handle assembly.

The camera lens is on the left (hole) and the right is the key hole.

Photo was taken while I'm backing up on my drive way.

Thanks for the complements folks...

hskrsolara: I guess you can mount the backup camera on the bumper or something, but the current location its mounted makes it look flush with my solara.

cam

While I think a back-up-cam is a sweet mod, whatever way it is done: SiennaSC98: I really like your install. If you didn;t tell us there was a cam in there I'd never have guessed.

My boss has an Eclipse nav/back-up camera on his wife's Sienna, but that only turns on when the car is in reverse and not any other time, and even then you have to change the display mode to AUX before you use it, if I remember correctly. Therefore, I wish there were a few times I could get the plates of some bungholes, but at the same time it'll not make you appreciate the "3M TA3" plates.

I wired the camera power to the reverse light so it just turns on when I place the gear in reverse. My AUX connection is used for my ipod :D

Thanks.
I did consider these three areas where to mount the camera.
Bumper – Too much work is involved to run the cable inside the van and all the way to the console. The bumper is also reinforced with a thick metal and will be hard to drill a hole.

Spoiler – The (body) camera will be exposed to the environment.

Garnish – Perfect location since the BEC 105 camera is small enough to be tucked inside. Though the camera does not cover about a foot of the back area, the backup sensors that I have will pickup any obstruction.
