Photo Taking Tips

Photo Taking Tips

I found this website that does an excellent job giving advice on taking good car photos. It's pretty extensive so bookmark it an don't try to read it all at once.
The part I really like is how it shows good and bad examples of the same vehicle.

A condensed version is available for those short on attention span. However, you will miss alot by not viewing the full version.

Here are some cut and pasted samples from the website's text. Enjoy!

1) Color Photography is about LOTS of LIGHT--not shadow--LIGHT

2) V is BAD, H is GOOD.

That is to say:

Vertical light (e.g., high-angle, high-in-the-sky sunlight) is BAD.
Horizontal light (e.g., low-angle, rising/setting sun--AND your fill flash--is GOOD.

(LEFT) A "For Sale" Cobra shot: this is the same Cobra as the one on the left... and the same camera was used. Note the harsh, murky shadow (resulting from shooting the shadow side of the car in hard midday sunlight), the high camera position, the car parked on grass, the apparently purloined sidepipe. This image isn't likely to inspire anyone to purchase.

(RIGHT) The owner got serious with his camera the second time around--he decided to read/heed these photography tips. Soft, evenly-distributed, smoothly-flowing dusk sunlight, perfect positioning of his car and low camera position made for a marvelous image. Note the soft, gentle shadows on and beneath the car... and compare it to the harsh shadows in the photo at left. This photo sold his car.

it also depends on the angle alot. but lighting has alot to do with it too. most pics during the day come out better if its not sunny but kinda overcast.

great find man . *thumbs up*
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.
