Sup Bro,

The Clay bar is applied after you wash your car and done before you seal the clean surface with your choice of wax. The process involved is to apply the Quick Detailer / Quick WAX in a spray bottle to a 2' square surface of your car. While the surface still being wet, glide the workable piece of the bar on the wet surface like your erasing something. This process removes the contaminates from the paint. Once the surface is cleaned, wipe the residue off with a terry cloth or micro cloth. If the surface is still not smooth enough, reapply the steps again to your satisfaction. The key is to work in small sections at a time and to also work in the shade where the surface is cool not blistering hot. I wish you luck on the elbow grease to follow.

Looking nice..if the weather is good, i'll have to do that this weekend.
For me i just learnt last week that i can buy a claybar without buying the lubricating liquid (detailers liquid). I have those liquids left over from previous years...

When you go buy em, theres instructions on how to apply em... but speedstars basically covered the details... keep in mind if you drop the bar, DO NOT use it again... what i did was cut up the new bar into smaller pieces so it doesnt come to a waste if u drop

you can also check out my pics in my www after I did the 4 stage cleaning:
-wash
-clay bar
-swirl remover
-wax

took me 4-4.5 hours and was a bytch! but results were satisfying!

I got it for 18 something at autozone, it included two claybars and a plastic storage container (all made by mcguires - box indicates clay bar for overspray). There was another kit (also by mcguarires) for 21something but that box indicated mild-claybar.

Edit: with the site astro provided, i bought this product at autozone -

Check out the Meguiars web site. Don't forget to look through the professional stuff too.

Postby hskrsolara » Mon Jun 27, 2005 11:44 am

I am getting my car repainted, how long should I wait to wax/clay bar so I don't screw up the paint? Thanks in advance.
