Custom Lower Grill

Custom Lower Grill

Postby thealkimo » Wed Jan 19, 2005 1:33 pm

I was wondering how difficult it would be for a body shop to remove the vertical supports in the lower grill and then resurface the horizontal support. I am also wondering if the cost would be worth the new look. My trd kit is being shipped so I photoshopped one in for now and added eyelids for the fun of it. Opinions?

Photoshop it with no supports horizontal or vertical in there and see what that looks like. I think someone has tried this before and that was the better look?! Either one is an improvment though.;

I think for what they would charge you, the difference wouldn't be all too drastic. Its definitely a differently look, but its not all too large of a difference.

Sup Thealkimo! Congrats on getting your new kit! is it the gen1.5? i kno youve been wanting one for a while now especially back when kenny n i did that last GB

as far as the customizing on the lower grille, the shop i'd refer you to doesnt do anymore customizing... he got sick of it :lol:
but I remember someone doing a photoshop like your pic above, but also removed the middle horizontal bar and it turned out to look like a mustang :-? :roll:

but as far as just removing the vertical supports, i dont think its worth the money to do, unless you had a shop yourself and knew what you were doing... plus how do you plan on supporting the mesh grille behind it once you've taken out the vertical supports?

maybe you can ask TITO how much it costed him to remove the middle horizontal support... i know he just filled in the sides with fog lights... not a bad idea TITO!!

I gota check out the eye lids in person!! let me know when the whole plan is complete! :angel:

sup phi! yeah it does seem like a pretty minor adjustment but i think that it looks a bit cleaner but i still like the horizontal support in there...i am not sure how much it would cost to have it done so who knows if it'll even happen...just experimenting.

as for the kit i got it from mike t and yes it's a gen1.5...can't beat the price :wink:

i say do it. That's the best looking lower grille for gen1. If you still want the support you can paint em black.
