Update November 19th, 2004 (It's Raining and I am bored!)

It's raining and I havn't got any class today, so I thought I would post an update on my car. The fiberglass work isn't done on the back yet. There are parts on the kit that were over an inch off on fitment, so it has been a difficult task getting a good tight fit. In these pictures you can see my projectors are in, as well as black corner lights. I am currently looking for some amber side-marker lights off a ST205. The car should be getting painted in Late December during Christmas vacation, if I can get the fiberglass work finished.

your ride looks good. very dark. if i saw that thing coming down the st. i would be scared.

how hard was the hella retro for your lights. there is a thread in the upgrades section right now,so i think there will be more than myself asking. was is expensive, was it difficult, and do you have hi/low beams?

i think someone could make some serious $$$if they did retro fits for this forum. i would pay for it.

good luck on the rest of the fiberglass.

TadS Solara update

Postby michaels artic frost » Fri Nov 19, 2004 10:02 am

Looking good bro, keep up the good work and hit us up when you get more pics. As for that KY meet, it has been pushed back to early spring time after the winter season. I'll keep you posted. Hopefully by then, your ride will be close to completion.

Nice job on the headlights too.

It wasn't too bad. It took 2 days about 5 hours a day. Power tools used were a sawzaw, drill, and a diegrinder. I got all my parts @ http://www.rallylights.com/ and everything is DOT / SAE legal :D.
I did only lows, as 80% of my driving is interstate / major highway and the rest is in town. The only use I have found for my brights is road rage related  . I would say the light output is at least 30-40% better than my H4 Silverstars which are in my current avatar (11.19.04). Also, there is no glare to oncoming traffic, which is better for them.

I like the whole theme, like satchmo, I'd be scared too, seeing only HID's and not a car. Is that an Octane kit? I can't tell. LOL

Yep. Some places call it a R34 kit, but VIS calls it an Octane kit. My thoughts on the kit it’s very, very solid, but had some pretty crappy fitment. It’s great to get air flow over my oil / transmission cooler, my coolant is staying about 10-15 degrees cooler over long drives too (averaging 180-195, instead of 205-220), and will be great with the intercooler that’s planned for next year.

I'm lovin the all black theme. That's what I'm trying to do. I've got the black corner lamps too. Are you gonna try anything with the chrome trim around the windows? That'd be the last step in the "ultimate darkness" project. Good work man,

dizammn, that's really nice. wow. I have always liked that r34 front. did you have to take it to a shop for fitment on the front? how bad was the front fitment?

I am doing all the work myself (like always :)). There was a "horn" on the driver’s front where it should have met the fender and the turn signal housing of about 1.5 inches. There was a little work around the headlights also. It took about a week of fiberglassing to get the front right. It's time consuming, but rewarding work :D.
