NOOOOO dont go with the death knob!!!!!!

In my original setup I was running a Turbo XS Dual stage manual boost controller... It was the reason I blew my motor. Seriously, stay away from that crap. Turbo XS is supposed to be a good brand too.

Well another setback for "tabasco". Before we even hit the dyno we did some test runs and blew a dodgeball size hole in the block. We haven't had a chance to open up the motor but we're pretty damn sure it was the stock rods. Good thing there doesn't seem to be any damage to the top end of the motor. We had no intentions to push the car to 20psi but during our test runs it felt like a monster! I have been in a 450whp Supra and I must say this Solara would've made that Supra look like a Civic.

I ordered the Arias Pistons and Eagle rods combo from Stoid Racing the other day so we're going to rebuild "tabasco". Also, I have decided to go with the Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller. I'll keep you guys posted.

aww damn. . . that sucks man. . . hey atleast your getting right back up and getting back to work on making the motor run well. . . Have you ever considered Cryo Treating the parts or possibly the engine block since you blew a hole in the block? If you go through with cryo treating. . . man you can run a lot more boost and 100 shot direct port nitrous to possibly put out nearly 800-900 hp. . . LOL. Yup I blew it up already. Same compression 9:1 this time with forged rods. I was running "tabasco" for awhile on stock rods.

Rizal- I can't wait till Spring when you and JB can have a show down.
It is good you had a chance to feel the power before your pilot embellished. Soon enough Carlos could have his own to break- heh.
Can't wait for the rebuild, at least you made good headway on the tuning. Keep the faith Bro~

That sucks. I really want to get some stuff built for mine but who knows. Local places have told me Arias isnt really that good for heavy boost applications. So I am curious what others have thought of them.

That just goes to show you can't believe everything you hear. There was a car featured in Turbo and High Tech that Stoid built with the same pistons that was pushing 850whp. -JoeB

After talking to more people about it a friend of mine has suggested that i go with JE Pistons and Crower Rods. Expensive but well worth it. Have the motor just sitting and have been waiting to really dig in but i will not cut corners on it. So just kinda waiting to see what the best options are..

What rods are you planning on running this time around? My Crower rods have stood up to some pretty good 18psi abuse so far with no trouble...
