CUT THE SPRINGS ..cut a half coil off the back, and a coil off the front. That way its lower, but you retain somewhat similar spring rate, any more than that and you will bottom out on the slightest bump or uneven road gap. My friend did it to his 240 with tein springs, worked like a charm, and no problems yet :)

noooo  your rolling radius will be jacked and the car will be HIGHER off the ground. The speedo will be reading all over the place... either stickl with the correct tire sizes or get coilovers, dont run giant tires.

Well Im not talkin bout gettin 20s. I have 17s now w/205-40-r17 tires. I want some 18s with a wider tire. Atleast a 225-45-r18.

So if I do get a bigger rim an thicker tire what would i need to do to keep from messin up the speedo???

I'm surprised you haven't already had speedo/braking problems with the tire size you have on now. When changing wheels/tires the general rule of thumb is to stay within a rate of change of no more than 3% of the original diameter. That's either 3% larger (slower speedo reading) or 3% smaller (faster speedo reading). Also, when the proportions are out of whack, you're also taxing the brakes, which might be overworked with the wrong wheel/tire combination. Here's a printout from the 1010tires Tire Calculator comparing OEM SLE tires to your current setup & mine:

8.69% :o
Sh!t, I didnt know it was that bad. I must have mixed up some numbers when I was buying these wheels. My ride is a bit rough and now I know why. Im defenintly going 18s w/215-225/45-50/R18. I like the Volk line of wheels. Something 7 spoke, I really like 7 spokes.

Which would be better tires on 18s. 225/40/R18 or 225/50/R18???
