No,
GTS is AE86 and SR5 is AE85 i believe. SR5 has a wimpy motor, no vlsd, no oil cooler, weaker bodys structure and drum brake.

Im pretty positive that the SR5 is still the same chassis code as the GTS, but it comes with a few less options, drum brakes like you said, no LSD, and Im not sure about the motor. And as far as I know, there actually never was an AE85 chassis... The previous before the AE86 was AE82.

Straight from the pages of Club 4AG- The differences between a GTS and SR5:

What are the visual Difference to GTS and SR5?
In the USA, AE86 and AE92 came in trims called the SR5 and GTS. The GTS was basically the trim level which included the 4A-GE DOHC engines in both versions of the Corolla. In the AE86, the driveline from transmission to the rear differential was different and included a lower 4.3 final gear ratio in the 5 speed transmission. The SR5 was 4.1, as well as the few AT equipped GTS. The GTS package also included rear disc brakes, higher grade interior trim, and body color front bumpers. Cosmetically the GTS also were trimmed with larger side moldings, Twin Cam 16 decal, and rear spoiler. SR5 versions had drum brakes and black bumpers as door moldings. In the case of AE92, the rear wing and side skirts were standard on the GTS as well as decals. more

So what is the different between AE85 and AE86? All i know is that SR5 use 4AC motor while AE85 use 3AC motor but what else are different?

TRD_solaRa wrote:Actually you DON'T have a "Hachiroku" . . . you have a '85 Corolla . . . a Hachiroku is exactly what it says . . . "86" which is a 1986 Toyota Levin/Trueno (or Corolla in the US). The real Hachi has a totally different suspension set up and chasis. But if you mod the 85 enough you could drift it . . . but you should try to get the Hachi if you can, it drives sooooo much better. Trust me. Anywayz at least now you got a daily driver. Shoootz.

Yes, It does refer to the Chassis code of AE86. The 85 was a SOHC engine while the 86 is a DOHC. The "Sprinter" was the name of the 86 here (or so I've seen). Otherwise, you have a normal coupe corolla FR config. =P

If you buy a SOHC Toyota, you're on crack. =x
