Wash, clay, wax, tint and grill work.

With so many recent postings about detailing your rides, the pressure got to me. I started with Mother's Clay Bar then followed by Meguire's Gold Class paste.

Sunlight was fading fast so there are only a couple pics.

(Sorry, no glass buildings for a background)

Two of my toys:

Two recent changes I haven't posted till now:
1) I finally blacked out the chrome bar on the hood. Thanks Cklinh!!!

2) Maximum tint available on the rear windows. Very nice. No cheap film, lifetime guarantee from Ziebart. Can't go wrong on that. I waited on the driver's and passenger windows. Michigan is very tough on tint laws. I may go ahead and have it done anyway. It's too cool looking all blacked out. 8)

Lookin' forward to Elmhurst.

No mods on the RX-8. I have some exhaust lined up for it, but I'm considering trading it.

The project Z in the garage will run rings around the RX-8. We could use something a little better on gas and able to get around in winter. Our winter vehicle, a 93 Pathfinder really needs more attention than I have time for. So ditch the RX-8 and Pathfinder, pick a new AWD vehicle and we'll be down from four cars to three.

I agree with Chunks, I'm not a big Gen 2 fan, but WOW that's a nice glass finish on your car, the choice of rims and black detailing make it look real tough. Great Job.

Wow man that looks really nice.
Why don't you sell the RX-8, and get an RX-7; the fun lies in the RX-7.
Now unless your willin' to drop in a 20B/3 rotory in the RX-8 then it will be fun. :D
But man your car looks so shiny. **drool**
Props man.

Powdercoat

Postby JMSinMaryland » Mon Jun 05, 2006 6:34 pm

Now to get the Trenz grill and powdercoat it black to really set off the look. I'd also suggest loosing as many rear emblems as possible and what's remaining get or paint black pearl. I've tried to go white/black with my Camry. Jon.

Thanks, I agree with your suggestions.

The SE V6 will be coming off.
The aluminum TRD badge on the left will be relocated somewhere. Probably under the hood. It's too nice to get rid of it.

I'd love to have the holes filled under the Solara and cowboy logo, but that's a bit of work. I'll look into it.

Shortly before the Elmhurst show, I will have the hood and nose repainted. 50K miles of rock chips have been brutal. I've got to stop tailgating. LOL. If I don't fill the trunk holes, I will have the hood, nose and emblems painted at the same time.

As for the grille, I'll repaint (coat) what I have now. I'll look at the Trenz, but I'm getting used to touching up the mesh. The flat surfaces of the Trenz grills would show chip repairs very easily. I'll look into it anyway.

Thanks all for the comments. Feel free to keep the suggestions coming.

Only 15 minutes from my office. I work in Monroe. Exit 11 on I75.

Otherwise less than an hour to the house.

We should hook up sometime. I didn't realize you were so close.
