D..Yam, that looks pretty good. The cool thing about this TRD Blower is that the unit is oil cooled and fed by the oil pan. In other words, each time the oil is changed so is the charger. The only thing I find wrong with the design is the location of the shaft nose cone. It seems to be to close to the exhaust manifold. :-? Other than that, it looks pretty good. Nice find. :D

Man, that looks like an awefully tight space to work in.

Good find!

Chewbocca wrote:the weird thing about this is why I don't see TRD superchargers on sale for the TC if there are actual pics of it already. The good thing is that this TRD supercharger will also fit the Gen 1.5 and the Gen 2 four bangers since it uses the same engine as the TC (2AZ-FE).

Fuel mapping, intake positioning, radiator hose positioning...

all those make the 2AZ-FE in the Solara UNABLE to use the tC charger.

#1. The charger will not be out for a while. TRD (Magnuson) is still fighting the EPA for passing emissions.

#2. Major modding is needed if you REALLY want to slap this cruddy charger on the car

Just buy the JP headers and be happy :)

just buy the cheaper K&N air filter... same exact filter, TRD just has the TRD name and mark up :o

You feel more torque and the engine gets louder when you are pushing it... it's cool :D

Are yu talking about the "drop in" filter with the stock box or is it an SRI or something?

I was planning to do that w/ my car... but when you really learn about TRD USA... you know that you SHOULD NOT DO THAT.

TRD Lowering Springs are really Eibach springs + mark up and TRD labeling

TRD Drop-in filter is just the KN Filter w/ TRD logo and colors

TRD Struts were (not anymore) made by Bilstein and badged TRD.

TRD Supercharger (2AZ one, as in question) is made by Magnuson w/ TRD badging

---

In essence, TRD USA is just a BRAND NAME. TRD Japan developes everything themselves (well, almost everything). If you want real TRD upgrades, then buy a car they also make in Japan (SC 430, LS 430, GS series, IS series, MR-S) so you can order genuine TRD Japan parts at your Toyota dealer.

TRD is a moderate grade tuning tool for most cars... it isn't hardcore. If you want better upgrades at about the same price, go with TOM'S gear (not avail for Solara...)
