245/45-18 on Gen 6?

245/45-18 on Gen 6?

Postby SolaraPete » Sat Oct 13, 2012 7:38 pm

My wife drives a 07 Camry (SE V6) with the 18x7.5 TRD wheels. Currently it has 225/45's on it which need to be replaced. Ive got a friend with a set of 245/45s that i can get for cheap, but im concerned they might be too wide for a 7.5" wheel. Anyone know if this size tire will be safe to mount, and if there will be any fitment issues?

Thanks cartang! It appears the gs430 rims are the same offset as my TRD wheels, so at least i know they wont rub. However your wheels are 18x8 - has anyone mounted a 245/45 on a 18x7.5?

245/45 on a 18x7.5 is a bit excessive. You might get slight rubbing on the struts, so check how much room you have between the struts and the tires. Wider tires gives you better traction and ride quality. It helps absorb more of the road than a 225/45 would, but, like I said, it might be too wide for your 7.5" width wheel. At most, I would go 235/45 on them.

Offset is a +45on a 17x7.5. Keep in mind this is for my wife's 07 Camry, so there might be more room than on the Solara.... Did your 245s hit on the inside or outside?

When i tried doing 245's for the rear it kept hitting my struts and springs. the front cleared no issues.
