... but coolant and engine oil should never mix! If there's coolant on your plugs, you have serious, serious and very expensive problems.

Thats not even possible.
Unless you mean that you have a coolant leak in the cylinder. Then yes, you have a problem. Coolant will not compress like atomized gas. You run the risk of bending or breaking your valves, pistons or connecting rods.

A friend of mines lexus got a bad hole in a hose and coolant was leaking all on his spark plug valley and when we removed the coils there was more coolant we used a hand vacc to suck it up and replaced the plugs. But it seems good as new now.

I guess I misunderstood.
Electricity and water (coolant) don't mix. As long as you repaired the hose and dried all electrical conections, you should be fine.
Fluid will will cause electricity (spark) to ground out. In other words, the spark would never make it into your cylinder. A big loss of power and dangerous to any mechanic touching wires while engine running.

But there is some white smoke when we started his car is that normal? I remember something about blue smoke if its coolant or something.

Blue smoke is oil. White smoke is coolant.

You probably had some coolant left on some parts that get hot when the engines on. When boils, it evaporates into white smoke.
