From Toyota Nation
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t133795.html

Basically the new 6 speed automatics for the v6 camry's are having issues. Only SOME are. The problem has to do with the 2nd and 6th gears failing within the car's first 500 miles.

Toyota has said it is safe to drive on, at least to get it fixed, and they will replace the transmission free of charge (of course).
I find it great that Toyota would let us know of such an issue so early on, but I am indeed dissapointed that this even happend. They should have tested this new transmission more, in more cars, before releasing it so early.
So far the i4's have no issues.

I hope its not a serious issue affecting a large percentage of 2007's.

Well, hats off to Toyota for bringing it to the forefront early on...not like Ford and the F150 fires that kept burning peoples trucks AND houses down!! All because they didn't want to admit there was a problem with a stupid cruise control part.

I hope Ford is being sued and gets taken for a lot of dough!

i think the new camry's 07s look really nice actually
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

newly redesigned cars tend to do worse in terms of reliability. Like MCOjerry said, at least Toyota announced the issue earlier.

i think if you are a prospective v6 camry buyer, it'd be best to hold out till later on in 2007 or wait for the gen 6.5.
