anyhoo my wifees battery signal lit up on the dash today... and I thought If I just disconnect the battery it would go away well as soon as pop the hood the battery terminals were covered by purple substance...the car starts fine and everything could this purple stuff be making the battery signal lit up or something else :-?

the purple stuff is a protectant to stop corrosion build up on the batt terminals. if your batt warning light is on it means that ther is a problem with the charging sys, the batt is bad, or there is a wiring problem.

i have it too ,but the dealership put it on. I had battery acid everywhere after a accident, i would clean and clean it ,but it always came back and now since they put that purple stuff on it its fine

I put that battery protectant stuff on our batteries as they didnt come with it from the factory. Never, have our cars experienced any problems with the stuff, and we've used it for about 20 years.
