Postby liltimmy1313 » Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:33 am

Hey, when i install these 2.5's, the turn signals (reverse lights after conversion) will be amber color, so i am gonna wanna change them to reverse light color, right? Can i even do that?

well, lemme put it this way, will i pass NJ inspection with amber colored reverse lights?

oi vey, so many complications.

thanks for tha help e'rybody

Buy yourself a trailer bulb converter and wire(5 wire -> 4 wire) it so your blinkers control the brake lights. Then you can use the original blinkers as backup lights with a proper bulb. Never had a problem with inspection with that setup.

slow down and rethink your questions...

-why would you think you would pass with amber reverse lights?
-how hard is it to change them to white?
-why would you not be able to change them to white?

Just a heads up.

After reading camrazy's last post, and noticing that my left blinker wasn't working, I figured, hey, my converter must have went out too.

So I went to Kragen to pick up a replacement converter... they didn't have the Hopkins 48915, so I got the next closest thing, 48925.

Go on about my business rewiring everything. When I was done, damn thing still wouldn't work.

So I check my fuses, and realized, hey, why are ALL the left side lights not working? Including the front left signal, my signal light on the sideview mirror, the rear blinker, AND the left arrow on the dash.

AHA! Must be the flasher! since there aren't any side specific fuses for the blinker/hazards. I pulled out the LED flasher and replaced it with the OEM that I kept. All the front blinker lights came on, but alas, the rear still did not. I figured the new Hopkins must not be working (either because it's defective, or the wiring is different... but I did check that, and all wires were labeled the same as the old Hopkins)...

I rewired the old Hopkins converter, and we're back in business.

Long story short, if ALL signal lights on one side are not working, it's the flasher.

Just made a conversion and here is a photo. I used 5 Ohm resistors because I couldn't find 6 Ohm ones. Blinking speed in fine, but the resistors become very hot after a minute of blinking. Is that OK? I think I should find a relay and remove the resistors, that would be a safe choice.
