Installing Navi

So im gonna try to install my navi and junk tomorrow
does anyone have any tips for me?
also which wire do i have to ground so i can use the DVD movie feature while driving (its for passengers not me.....mostly)

Which trim will you use ?? American International or Toyota EOM navigation trim ?

Do you have JBL amp ?

I suggest you to install the GPS antenna right under the 3 display screen...GPS can go thru glass and plastic but not steel.

The "parking" wire is "salmon pink" (almost baby pink) on my Nakamichi. I guess it's the universal color for the parking wire.

I've put it to the ground also, it's illegal I guess but I like to play videoclips sometimes on the road and my girlfriend watch movies that I already saw in the car when we travel. I can turn the screen so cops will maybe more tolerate it if they catch me.

The wire on my Kenwood wasn't salmon...was green or yellow...bottom line refers to your installation manual...but the idea remains the same, ground the wire.

Yeah kenwood, parking wire is green, and backup senser wire is pink.

That's cool, I just installed the same navi! Very easy install! Just ground the parking brake wire like others said before. On my gen 1, I took out the DRL sensor on the passenger side of the dash and installed my antenna there, works perfect. I also installed the Eclipse iPod adapter and Parrot bluetooth

im having a hard time takeing out the a/c vents and the clock lol
i think im going to die
but yea...i have the basic setup so no amp bypassing and stuff
this is my first time doing a radio install

Easy to do! Just pull out the ashtray on the bottom then tug on the frame as hard as you're comfortable with. Then it should pop out and all you have to do is unplug the wires on the back. I've done it at least a dozen times.

Kyle !! Sorry I forget to tell you how to remove those parts.
The clock...put your thumbs inside 2 of the 3 display screen and pull it. No need of any tool. The A/C...you need to remove the trim from the middle of the car...you know the lid...just pull up and it will pop out....then you'll have access to the 4 main bolts !

I sent you an email with instructions on how to remove the radio trim. It's actually part of a file for XM installation.

now im stuck at another part....alsmost done but i cant find the reverse wire in the front....i dont want to have to run it to the rear taillight....
can anyone help? i tried looking at fuses and haynse manual but im lost
and is the speed wire really necessary?

Yes, in most cases the speed (or VSS) wire is necessary to calibrate your speed. This is so it'll now how fast to move your position marker on the map.

so its almost done but the audio for CDs wont work
the nav audio works, so i can hear directions like turn right at blahblah
but the volume light blinks at 40
any idea are appreciated

That's strange, usually when the light blinks, the volume is being muted. It only does that for me when I use my bluetooth phone. Did you hook up the (pink) mute wire? I did, but I believe that's only if you got bluetooth. Make sure if you're not using it, that you tape up the end to keep it from getting any signal. Other than that, I can't think of anything right now.

On the gen1, the speed (VSS) is a violet/white wire coming out of the ECM. It should be the same for you.
The reverse should be a red/black coming out of the junction connector under the glove, left of the ECM. On my diagram, it shows 3 connectors lined up in a row horizontally, with what looks like 3 more under them. The guide shows it pointing to the middle connector on the bottom row. I'm not sure, but it looks like it that could be it. Remember, I hooked mine up at the light.
