'04 Solara Nav E7001 compatible with Sirius?

Postby Jim_S » Tue Oct 09, 2007 7:52 am

Hi all, I've recently purchased an '04 Solara SLE with the in-dash Nav E7001. I was wondering if this is compatible with the Toyota Sirius package, and if so, what might I need to get to install it, specifically? So far, everything that that I've been able to research out says Sirius is not compatible with '04, but only '05 plus, however the '04 is supposed to be compatibile with XM. I was thinking about waiting for the merger, but since that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon, and I'm rather tired of my window-mounted Sirius Roadster. If I'm going to go through the effort of permantly mounting the antenna, I would much rather have a seemless unit that integrates with the existing system.

If not, can the E7001 be replaced with a different model that is compatible and will it fit on an '04? Which one(s)?

Thanks!

I don't think Toyota offered Sirius in 2004, only XM. I don't think you can buy the Sirius receiver and connect it, I don't think it would be compatible.

You could probably swap out the nav unit from a newer Solara, but that would cost $$$ and you'd still need to buy the Sirius receiver, which is like $400.

You are probably better off with an aftermarket nav/satellite system.

You have to compare prices to see what's cheaper.

You could always get a plug and play unit and have it professionally installed. You would only see one wire, from the unit to behind the dash, and it mounts on your windshield.
