iPod interface confusion 2006 Solara SE (non JBL)

My wife just picked up a 2006 Solara and I'd like to interface the 80gb w/video and possibly her new shuffle (not as vital) with the factory radio while retaining the steering wheel controls.

I've done a lot of searching on the forums and it's made me even more confused. It seems like the interfaces that sound like exactly what we want list their application for 03-05 Solaras. I'm guessing there was a change in 06 which is why they aren't compatible.

It sounds like there's a plug in the back of the factory stereo that will allow this, but I'd like a nice system that can be set up rather stealth, and also charge the iPod while docked.

Then the next step is upgrading the factory speakers.

There are a few people who have posted about this topic, but I don't remember who. If you do a few searches, you will most likely come across the threads, one was pretty recent.

Not sure what years they have, but they were definitely Gen 2.

Good luck :)

This seems to be one that would be what I'm looking for, however it ends at 2005:

Well, the Solara HU changed from 06 to 07, but I don't think it changed from 05 to 06. Try calling the parts dept. at the dealership (and hope you get someone knowledgable) and ask if there were changes.

You might be OK...could be they just have nnot tested in on MY06 or higher, so they don't list it for them.
