opinions on sub setup

Im getting a new headunit, amp and 2 subs:
pioneer premier deh-p690ub
soundstream amp
2 12" infinity kappa perfect 12.1
I dont want to have a square box in the back of my trunk so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to set the subs up in a clean and space saving way. My friends and I will be building the box or boxes

If you're working with fiberglass, you can easily do something like this:

Just do it on both sides. The plastic tray is easily removable...

If you're working with MDF... it's a bit trickier... I had originally planned on using shallow mount subwoofers and constructing a box behind a false panel where the opening is...

I was thinkin about doing the false pannel thing..
since i dont have any way to work with fiberglass and im not planning on spending too much on the boxes
what are shallow mount subs?
i think i need a mounting depth of 7 inches and 1cu. ft. for a sealed box so that wont be a problem
but how would i make the box fit perfectly flush? our trunks have too many curves and im not confident in building somethin that will sit flush on the side

Shallow mount subs only require about 3-4 inches of space to mount... they probably won't thump as much as their non-shallow counterparts, but you're trading that off for saving space.

But since you're already chosen subs, that wouldn't help at all.

When I said false panel in front of a box, I meant building a box as you normally would that would fit in the hole, and then adding another piece of mdf/plywood in front of that to match the curves of the trunk (which would go the whole way from the left to the right). That way, your box wouldn't have to match the curves, and can stay rectangular, which is infinitely easier to fabricate. You can use a piece of cardboard or something similar to trace out the outline of the trunk.

I love my Alpine Equipment and my new trunk seen above.
why not the new Type-S line>? they play low and hard from what Ive heard
and are much shallower than the competition.

The other idea instead of the Type R was two of the 10Type-S's on one side.
It would be do-able just how much effort or money you want to spend.

Thanks for the advice but i already have the subs
I only need the box to be about 7 inches deep, which would make the panel idea work. however, i might have to make an additional piece for the top since the box might be protruding from the side a bit more.
I understand the panel idea and will probably end up doing just that but any additional ideas and opinions will be appreciated
