Illumination wire? Could you be more specific? There's the dome, headlight, taillight, instrument cluster, climate control backlight (circuit board though), dome light, map light and a ton of other lights that serve to turn on a bulb or LED.

the wire which is connected to a aftermarket headunit i just installed a new clarion double din headunit

LOL OH I didn't bother to check the section...Second time I've done stuff like this :roll: . Usually it should be in the wiring manual for the harness or the user's manual for the radio. One thing to keep in mind, if there's nothing to connect to the dimmer wire, don't worry about it too much; some aftermarket head units don't connect to the dimmer and stays constantly lit.

Also, there might be subtle, but present color differences; don't get them messed up; when I was installing mine, the harness had a lavender wire while the head unit had a purple.
