ipod interface

Postby ucfprincess13 » Wed Mar 21, 2007 2:59 pm

I have an '05 SLE with the in dash changer, and I am looking for an ipod interface which will allow me to control the ipod through the radio along with using my steering wheel controls and seeing song text on the radio.

I'm looking for feedback for USA specs pa12-toy and for the peripheral pxdp2, or any other product that you can recommend.

Thanks for the help guys!

some of the suggestions are in there
there are some guys in here that have the

and they seem to like it (i think its the same as the peripheral pxdp2 u were asking about)
many of us use the usa spec, but not specifically for the ipod, but it works well for what we use it for

I'm using the iPOD2car in the 2nd link.

It works okay, but sometimes needs "messed" with to detect... and doesn't provide enough "GAIN" for high volume listening.... Otherwise, it works ok.

What do you use it for? That statement just sounded so vague and mysterious. Had to ask

You aren't, by chance, the Solara owner at UCF that was hit by the guy on the bicycle, are you?

Some guy came on a while back and was looking for tail lights because he ran into a Solara at UCF.

C'mon - I frequent Hollyweird enough to know that a "princess" is just a short hem-length away from being a "queen"!

Make sure to intro too! ;)

I'm smart enough to catch that. It was a guy looking for tail lights for someone else's car he hit on his bike at UCF...hence, I thought you might be the one he hit. I told him he had to tell the owner about SG.org.

See, I'm pretty observant :D

I purchased the Dension Ice> Link Plus for Toyota and it works great! It has several different interface options, but I configured mine to do the following:
- turn off/on when the car is turned on
- turn off/on when selecting/de-selecting CD2
- charge ipod while playing(you can turn this off)
- can use steering wheel control to go to next track FF, etc. (can setup to move between playlist if you want)
- full use of ipod controls and steering/radio controls at same time

I have a 2006 Solara with stock in dash cd changer. The interface cable plugs into an open cd port on the back of the radio that is typically used for a second cd changer. Once connected I just hit the cd button twice to use the ipod. I followed one off the tuturials on this site to install ...no tools required and took less than 30 minutes to install. The longest part was mounting a bracket to attached the cradle. The ipod stays hidden in the console, but is still easy to operate when the console door is open.

Note...Dension's website does not indicate that it works with Solara and some listings on ebay contradict one another, but I found one seller that guaranteed that it would work ..and it did. You can search ebay for Dension. I purchased a new unit off ebay for $16 incl. shippping ...great deal! Looks like they're now going for $60-$80

I posted a link about this product last year - but damned if I can find it through search now.

I exchanged emails with them to find out some info but never ordered it - but I wanted to know as well - does it display the iPod song title info in teh OEM HU display?

There is a User Interface mode that allows you to use the steering/radio controls and operate the click wheel at the same time. This is what I use, but it will not display track information on the HU. The only mode that display track information disables use of the click wheel and only allows you to use steering/radio controls to switch between playlists and move between tracks. I looked on ebay and saw a few for sale.
