Factory Amp

Factory Amp

Postby mcsoccer7 » Fri Dec 15, 2006 10:49 am

This may be a dumb question, but is there a factory amp on systems that are NOT JBL...I have the basic stereo and I'm upgrading to my aftermarket one and I need to know if I have to bypass the factory amp or not...Hopefully there isn't a factory amp already...i don't think there is but I would like some confirmation...Thanks

Searching is your best friend; this topic has been covered many times. You don't need to bypass the amp; towards the back of the head unit slot are 2 wires... All you need to do is unplug them and use them for your head unit (providing that you got a wiring harness too).

Just look around your car. If you see any JBL emblem anywhere you got an amp.. If not then most likely you got a non JBL which wont have one...

Then again Im a gen 1 so I could be wrong.

Thanks but I won't need a harness....I am going from the HU to an in dash EQ/DSP then to 2 amps...i was just wondering about the amp because I'm going to use the factory speakers for a little bit, while I save up for some quality component speakers...so I don't have to take the door panels off, I'm going to take the speaker wires from the amp back to the factory harness, and splice into them there...I hope this makes sense!!
