Sorry people, I'm new to this forum, so let me introduce mysefl...

I have just bought a 2007 Solara SE without JBL, and my mother just bought a 2007 Camry SE with JBL. Her sound system sounds so much better than what I got, so I was wonder if I can just buy the OEM JBL and put it in my car. I had to crank the volume up to 50 just to get as loud as my mom's camry at 25.


I was hoping some one could tell me whether it's posible before I go and buy this JBL amp.

One more question, what's the dif. between JBL system and no JBL?, is it just the amp, or the entire unit and speaker?.

Well, I don't know about your particular model year since I only have a '99, but JBL and non-JBL radios have a completely different wiring harness, since like you said yourself, the JBL is routed through an amp, but it isn't something that optimizes sound too much; it just distributes the channels more better and gives the speakers more power (unless I'm mistaken about Gen2+). However, it is A LOT more efficient and easier to just install a set of aftermarket speakers, because believe it or not, even the cheapest aftermarket speakers outperform the JBL.

the Jbl systems usually 2ohm speakers with a matching amp...while non jbl are traditional 4 ohm speakers.

thats why you need to get to 50 while moms car is at 25. for the money, id go aftermarket probably a better sound and more features such as iPod or mp3s...


but thats just me.
