Never seen this before.

These folks obviously went a step beyond the AUX input units out there. They use the CD Changer language to control the PC using the stock HU and presumably let the PC talk back to the HU so the track info should show up.

edit=fixed spelling... wtf was I on? :o

Just what I was looking for, but I don't seem to be able to find a good place to mount computer screen unless I remove stock head unit. :(

I could just make PC based MP3 player, but then its not worth paying that much.

That's been holding me up for 2 years now. Many go with the 7" touch screen taking the place of the stock HU but I want something bigger. My latest pipe-dream is to fab a retractable mount for a 14" that could fold under the passenger seat. (that'll happen really quick).
And I agree... tunes only - an iPod does fine. I want nav, ECU data, tunes, wireless traffic, front and rear cams with DVR, and anything else I choose to load. Until that day... I'm fine with my little MP3.

I spent a long time before there were IPODs trying to integrate a computer with MP3 into my car. There weren't any LCD flat panels smaller than 10" at the time which could be used with good enough resolution. So I used the 10" and got way too much attention, and eventually all was stolen. But yeah, IPOD all the way now. I don't even have to look to change tracks, it's small and easily powered, easily taken inside to upload new tracks. I even had a port so I could plug in my network cable in the garage (but the car had to be powered on). I don't even use MP3s anymore much, not with Sirius picking music for me...
