Just picked up a 2006 SLE conv., Artic White.
Got a BEC 105 camera for a Christmas present. Anyone have directions on
the installation of this device?
Thanks in advance.

Rearview camera

It plugs right in to the back of your Nav unit. Have a look at
my pics on car domain (www link below) as to where I installed mine.

Did you have to cut a hole in your license plate to mount it there?

Back-up Camera

Postby mikei » Mon Jan 09, 2006 7:31 am

The camera mounts just ahead of the license plate. It does prohibit any kind of cover being mounted over the plate unless it is notched accordingly. There is a plastic strip between the license plate lights and it mounts right there like it was made for it.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Mike. What was involved threading the cable for it from the rear of the Nav to the outside of the bumper? Did you have to take the rear bumper off and make any holes at all?

If you take off your rear license plate you can see were the camera fits. with no need to remove any body parts only two small holes for the cameras mounting bracket and then pull the wire through the grommet for the license plate lights into the trunk. Then route up the passenger side under the door-sills. The same as running the XM cable to the dash.

I did not install the camera myself. I had it installed at Dealer Services in Hollywood, Florida.( an authourized Eclipse dealer)

Real neat install.
I may try it my self.
Do you have to remove the Nav screen or can you reach the plug
from under the dash?

You are going to have to remove the NAV system in order to find the proper plug spot and get it in there. I dont think theres any way to get it from below.

I got to the back of the NAV to plug my IPOD2CAR in from below and I don't see how you can't plug in this camera cable from below if you know just where to plug in by looking at a picture of the back of the NAV (posted here previously) and feeling for it. Your hand I think can get to any part of the back of the NAV from below.

Plug on back of Solara NAV

Postby pprather » Tue Mar 06, 2007 1:39 pm

Slingshot,
Some time ago you wrote:

I don't see a place big enough to stick my small hand into. Did you do some disassemby of the dash, NAV cover etc?

I want to install the backup camera. I have the diagram of the rear of the NAV. I'm sure I could find the back-up connector with my hand if I can get it in there. Thanks, Phil

Sweet!

Postby mekaleka » Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:44 pm

Just installed my bec105 today...LOVE IT! The install was made much simpler by following the instructions for an xm install. Breaking snaps on the door sill and trunk panel was the worst part.
